Welcome

We are pleased to announce that Dr John Mateljan and nurse practitioner Melissa Barrett will be joining the practice. John is moving in on the Australia Day long weekend. Melissa will initially be part time on a Tuesday with Dr Pedlow’s practice.

The practices of Dr Kim Pedlow and Dr Ray Borcherds welcome applicants for junior doctor positions through WAGPET.

We are accredited for community residency in paediatrics. This is a new initiative from Dr Pedlow and is aimed at strengthening the push for a rural generalist pathway in Western Australia. Successful applicants will be working part-time at the practice and part-time with the hospital paediatric team which consists of specialist paediatricians and GP paediatricians (new post at the Geralton Regional Hospital). Dr Pedlow and Dr Borcherds are accredited GP obstetricians and GP paediatricians at the Geraldton Regional Hospital and St John of God Hospital Geraldton.

Also available are GP registrar positions with scope for special interests in obstetrics, paediatrics, minor surgery and anaesthetics. In the case of anaesthetics the supervising would be done by a combination of salaried doctors and private anaesthetists in the anaesthetic department at the regional hospital.  Our colleagues Dr John Mateljan and Dr Doreen Menezes have kindly agreed to assist our practice with anaesthetic mentoring.

Interested doctors should contact both our practice and also WAGPET.

Dr Kim Pedlow has recently taken 100% ownership of the practice building. Dr Ray Cockerill has sold up and will be moving to a molescan clinic in central Geraldton.
Dr Pedlow and associate Dr Ray Borcherds are keen to recruit procedural and nonprocedural doctors.

We provide a wide range of services. Approximately 50% of our work is standard GP and 50% is work that a specialist would perform in the city. This includes obstetrics, point of care ultrasound, uterine curettage, implanon, mirena, paediatrics, neonatal medicine, skin surgery, cryotherapy, vasectomy, infantile circumcision, tongue tie release, ingrown toenail surgery, joint injections.

Our practice nurses are rapidly increasing their scope of practice. They perform immunisations, , ECG, lung function, pregnancy tests, cryotherapy, wound and ulcer dressings, womens health checks, over 75 health assessments and triage of urgent cases including telephone advice.
