Children and Babies

A small play area is provided for children.  Parents are asked to be mindful that children must be supervised and and if possible quiet for the comfort of others at all times. Consideration must be given to those patients in the reception area who are unwell or elderly. 

Emergency Procedure

Victoria District Medical Centre has detailed, specific policies and procedures for emergencies.  You may be instructed by a member of staff, if necessary, to evacuate the building.  Your immediate attention is expected at all times.  Your safety and well being is paramount so please follow all instructions given for the following emergencies:                                                                                                         

Facilities

The Practice building and rooms are fully wheelchair accessible, not requiring ramps for access.  We have fully functional disabled toilet available. There is a wheelchair available for use to and from your vehicle.

A change table and other facilities for parents with babies are also available on request.

Feedback

Patient feedback is strongly encouraged as the Practice strives for continual improvement in all areas.  We welcome discussion and conversation with any of our staff.  If you wish to provide feedback or make a complaint in writing, please see our Practice Manager who will assist you further. You are also welcome to discuss any feedback with your doctor or a staff member and if necessary we will arrange for this to be done in a private area. A patient feedback form and box is available in the waiting room near the television for your convenience.

Parking

There is a disabled parking bay at the top right hand car park in front of the building – signposted.

Privacy Policy

Staff do not give out details of patients who have consultations here nor any other identifying or account information, except as deemed necessary by government legislation or for health insurance funds.  Your medical record is a confidential document and it is a policy of this practice to maintain security of personal or health information.  Any information given to a third party about a patient will only be done with the written consent by the patient.

Reminder Systems and Recalls

As part of our continuous quality improvement and preventative care policy, the GPs at Victoria District Medical Centre participate in GP Care Plans and Team Care Arrangement plans.  Your GP will be only too happy to discuss these plans with you during your consultation.

We also advise relevant patients of the recall system and encourage all patients to participate.  Should you require further information please do not hesitate to discuss this at your consultation.

SMS appointment reminders are sent to patients with a current mobile phone. If you wish to opt out of this service please let our Reception Staff know.
